Introduction
The following describes how to connect to the Internet using a Novatel Wireless modem and an Apple® running: with Macintosh OS X v10.4.11.
Requirements
Before you can connect to service provider with a Novatel Wireless modem, you will need the following:
- An active account with a service provider
- A Novatel Wireless activated EVDO modem
- Intel Processor Computers
- ExpressCard/34 Models - V640, XS620, XV620, EX720, MX720, V740
- USB Model - MCD3000, U720, USB720
- PPC Processor Computers
- PC Card Models - S620, V720
- An Apple®: computer with the appropriate device interface (PC Card, ExpressCard/34 or USB) and current Mac OS X updates.
Setting Up Your Equipment
- Power on your Apple®: computer.
- Insert the modem into the computer using a appropriate interface.
- The modems listed above should automatically be detected and use Apple drivers.
Setting Up the Network Connections
In this section, you will configure the modem network connection settings.
- Make sure the card is completely inserted.
If your computer has this Icon on the the desktop , Eject by dragging to the Trash. 
- Your card should be detected and show in the menu bar with
, select dropdown menu Configure Now .  Select Continue. 
- Select System Preferences from the Apple (
) menu.

- Click the Network button in the System Preferences window.

In Network Show - Select Novatel Wireless CDMA

- Now create a configuration.
Select PPP tab.
- If fields have been filled in automatically, Skip to Step 7
- Otherwise - Enter name for Service Provider and Enter "#777" in the Telephone Number field. Leave Account Name and Password field blank.

- Select Modem tab and choose WWAN Support from dropdown.

- Click the Apply Now button and close System Preferences.
Opening an Internet Connection
Click the WWAN icon in the menu bar and select Connect...

You can also connect from Apple | System Preferences | Network | Show Network Status. Highlight Novatel Wireless CDMA Modem | Connect button.
Surfing the Internet
Once you are connected to the Internet, you can use any Internet application, such as Safari, Firefox, Mail, and iChat, to surf the Internet, check email, and connect using VPN, etc.
Disconnecting From the Internet
To disconnect from the Internet, click the WWAN icon in the menu bar and select Disconnect from the drop down menu.

You can also disconnect from Apple | System Preferences | Network | Show Network Status. Highlight Novatel Wireless CDMA Modem | Disconnect button.
Trouble Shooting
Internet Connect Error Message 
- No carrier detected. Please check phone line connection and try again
Problem involves multiple instances of the same device in Network Port Configurations. Sometimes "seems" to be related to update.
Resolution
- Unplug card
- Open System Preferences | Network
- From Show pulldown button, select Network Port Configurations

- Select each instance of Novatel Wireless Modem and press Delete...
(note: not all instances will be removed) 
- Press Apply Now
- Quit System Preferences
- Open System Preferences | Network
- Select any remainging Novatel Wireless Modem instances and pressing Delete...
(note: all instances should now be removed)
- Press Apply Now and Quit System Preferences
- Insert the Novatel Wireless Modem and the run the built-in configuration tool when the user is notified that a new network device has been connected.
